The Atlanta Falcons are trying to put themselves in a position to draft star pass-rusher Chase Young on Thursday night.

Atlanta is aggressively trying to move up from the No. 16 pick and has attempted to land selections as high as second overall, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports.

The Washington Redskins currently own the No. 2 selection and have not entertained such offers, as they think too highly of Young to trade the pick, Glazer adds.

Reports last week suggested rival teams felt the Falcons were trying to move up from No. 16. Such draft moves are nothing new for Atlanta, who has traded up in the first round five times since 2008. In 2011, the Falcons traded five picks - including two first-rounders - to leap from No. 27 to No. 6 in order to select Julio Jones.

It was reported Tuesday that the Redskins were fielding trade calls for their earliest pick.
