Rodgers congratulated Love on joining Packers
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to publicly comment on the Green Bay Packers' decision to use their first-round pick to draft his eventual successor, but he did make sure to congratulate his new teammate.
"Yeah, I was able to talk to him earlier," Jordan Love told ESPN's Maria Taylor, according to Rob Demovsky of the same network. "You know, really good guy. Just congratulating me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him."
Rodgers, 36, reportedly initiated the conversation that took place less than 24 hours after the Packers made the Utah State product their surprise pick at 26th overall.
Though Rodgers is under contract until 2023 and had publicly expressed hope that Green Bay would add a skill-position player after coming within one win of a Super Bowl berth last season, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst believes the veteran will have no problem mentoring his new backup.
