Tom Brady's friendship with Julian Edelman came into question earlier this week after Edelman appeared to briefly unfollow Brady on Instagram, but the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback says the two remain close.

"Jules knows how I feel about him. I love that guy. He's like a brother to me," Brady said Thursday, according to WEEI's Ryan Hannable. "We have been through so much and nobody is as big a fan (of) Julian than me. He will be great (with) whoever he plays with.

"As you guys know, there's a business side to sports. Things happen. You have to take it day by day like we're all experiencing. Things change pretty quickly in the world and in our lives.

"There's one thing I said about the very, very unfortunate passing of Kobe Bryant is we never know when our day is. You think one day you are just waking up to do something really routine in your life, we're planning for the future 30, 40 years from now, but the reality is, seize the day."

Brady and Edelman were teammates for 10 seasons with the New England Patriots and won three Super Bowl championships together during that time. Edelman campaigned hard for Brady to return to New England in free agency, even launching a "Stay Tom 2020" apparel line.
