Saints reach 2-year deal with Taysom Hill worth reported $21M
The New Orleans Saints signed quarterback Taysom Hill to a two-year contract on Sunday.
The deal is worth $21 million and includes $16 million guaranteed, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.
New Orleans entered this offseason with all three of its quarterbacks from 2019 unsigned. The team has since retained Hill and Drew Brees. The franchise is also reportedly finalizing a deal with free agent Jameis Winston.
Hill has proven to be a unique weapon in the Saints' offense.
Last season, he averaged 5.8 yards on 27 carries, caught six touchdown passes, attempted six passes, and starred on special teams.
Though head coach Sean Payton has publicly stated he believes in Hill's future as a quarterback, the 29-year-old will again back up Brees in 2020 while continuing to operate as a utility player at other positions.
