Saints host Vikings on Christmas Day
In a rare occurrence, the NFL has scheduled a game for Christmas Day even though the holiday falls on a Friday this year.
The New Orleans Saints will host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.
The Saints and Vikings last met in a 2019 wild-card game. Minnesota upset New Orleans with a 26-20 win in overtime. However, the finish came with controversy.
Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph appeared to push off before hauling in the game-winning touchdown catch. The loss came just one year after the infamous pass interference non-call in the Saints' NFC Championship Game defeat to the Los Angeles Rams.
Christmas Day is normally reserved for NBA action. But rather than go up against college football's Boxing Day slate on Saturday, Dec. 26, the NFL is scheduling one contest against the NBA's typical five-game schedule.
The NFL has played on Christmas Day on 14 other occasions, most recently in 2016 and 2017.
