Ted Ginn Jr. says he would be Olympic gold medalist if not in NFL
Chicago Bears wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. believes he could've become an Olympian had he stuck with track and field.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Ginn said he "for sure" would have won an Olympic gold medal if he wasn't in the NFL. He also pointed out that he once beat the fastest man in the world.
"I ran against Usain Bolt - I got him when we was in the 12th grade," Ginn said. "All of the top guys that have won the Olympics between 2004 til now, I basically had a chance to race them guys in high school."
Ginn told ESPN's David Newton in 2016 that he was on a 4x100-meter high school relay team that defeated a squad anchored by Bolt.
"He was the anchor, and I was the second leg," Ginn said. "I opened up and gave us that lead that he couldn't get back. So, you know, man, I've done run against the best of the best."
Ginn is entering his 14th NFL season and first with the Bears, who signed him to a one-year deal in May.
