Brady, ESPN to release 9-part documentary series in 2021
Tom Brady and his new production company are working with ESPN to produce a nine-part documentary scheduled to air in 2021.
The first trailer for "Man in the Arena" was released Thursday. The documentary will focus on Brady's unprecedented career, which has seen him win six Super Bowls over two decades with the New England Patriots. Brady signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during free agency in March.
"I'm excited to have my company 199 Productions be in business with ESPN and Disney along with our Religion of Sports partners to launch this new series that gives an inside look into the championship moments I've been blessed to experience," Brady said in a statement obtained by Deadline's Mike Fleming Jr. "Through the series, we're defining the key moments and challenges that were seemingly insurmountable, but through hard work and perseverance, became career-defining triumphs, in both victory and defeat. This compelling and powerful show will entertain, inspire, and have you on the edge of your seat. We can't wait to share it with the world."
The announcement comes days after ESPN aired the final part of its Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance," which received exceptional ratings and reviews.
Brady has shown interest in the production industry over the latter stages of his career, producing the "Tom vs Time" web documentary in 2018. He's also teaming with LeBron James to produce a short-form documentary series titled "Greatness Code," which premieres July 10 on Apple TV+.
