Report: NFL player sues United Airlines over alleged sexual assault
An unnamed NFL player and a second man filed a lawsuit against United Airlines on Wednesday, alleging flight attendants didn't properly respond to his reporting of sexual assault during a Feb. 10 flight from Los Angeles to New Jersey, TMZ Sports reports.
The player - identified as John Doe 1 - says a woman "sexually harassed, assaulted, abused, and violated" him while on the plane, according to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ.
He says he and his friend - John Doe 2 - took their seats when the woman took hers beside the window and immediately began harassing him over a mask he was wearing.
According to the lawsuit, the unnamed player told her the mask was a safety precaution for the growing COVID-19 pandemic. She then demanded to move seats, elbowing John Doe 1 before "groping and massaging his knees and thighs" and "intensifying" her sexual advances.
John Doe 2 says the flight attendants did nothing after he reported the incident, and the United Airlines employees merely gave the woman a verbal warning after he pleaded with them to take action.
Both men say they observed the woman taking pills and believed her to be under the influence.
Later, the NFL player said the woman grabbed his penis and ripped off his mask, causing him to run toward flight attendants. The friend says he was then sexually assaulted.
The men were given $150 vouchers for their troubles but are now seeking damages for negligence, infliction of emotional distress, and more, according to TMZ. Their attorney would not confirm identities.
United declined to comment on the incident.
