Report: Cowboys not interested in trading for Adams
The Dallas Cowboys currently have no interest in trading for New York Jets safety Jamal Adams, reports Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.
While the Jets aren't looking to move their two-time Pro Bowler, Adams is open to a trade, according to Watkins.
Adams has apparently grown frustrated with the Jets over the state of contract talks. He's believed to be seeking an extension that would make him the NFL's highest-paid safety and wants a deal in place before the new season begins.
Dallas has long been linked to Adams, who grew up in nearby Lewisville, Texas. The Cowboys made a push to acquire him at the 2019 trade deadline but couldn't consummate a deal. Adams became irked after learning the Jets had entertained the idea of trading him.
The Cowboys signed veteran Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to a one-year contract in free agency but have spent years searching for a playmaker to build around in the secondary.
In three seasons with the Jets, Adams has 273 tackles, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions. The 24-year-old is tied to the club through the 2021 campaign.
