Thomas accepts Brees' apology for comments about disrespecting U.S. flag

After Drew Brees expressed remorse for his "insensitive" remarks about disrespecting the U.S. flag, New Orleans Saints wide receiver and teammate Michael Thomas tweeted that he accepted his quarterback's apology.

Brees said Wednesday he'll "never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country" when asked about the potential of players kneeling during the anthem when the NFL returns. His comments were met with backlash from other players.

Thomas was one of many who weighed in on the veteran quarterback's remarks, tweeting: "We don't care if you don't agree and whoever else how about that."

A handful of other New Orleans players responded to Brees' apology Thursday, including star pass-rusher Cameron Jordan and linebacker Demario Davis.

Brees apologized for his remarks on Thursday, saying in part, "I stand with the black community in the fight against systemic racial injustice and police brutality."
