Lamar beats out Wilson for No. 1 on NFL Top 100
Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson earned another major accolade Wednesday night.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was awarded the No. 1 spot on the NFL Top 100, edging out Russell Wilson and Aaron Donald.
It's the first time Jackson has appeared on the NFL Network list, which is voted on exclusively by players. Donald topped last season's edition ahead of Drew Brees, Khalil Mack, and Patrick Mahomes.
Jackson became just the second player to be unanimously voted MVP last season and was the youngest quarterback to ever win the award at 23 years old. He led the Ravens to an NFL-best 14-2 record in 2019 while setting a new single-season quarterback record with 1,206 rushing yards. He also threw a league-high 36 touchdowns.
Mahomes ranked fourth on the list for the second straight year and was the third-highest-ranked quarterback despite winning the first Super Bowl of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs last season and earning MVP honors in the championship game.
Quarterbacks have historically dominated the top of the list. Tom Brady has ranked No. 1 three times, while Peyton Manning, Cam Newton, and Aaron Rodgers have each done so once. Adrian Peterson became the first non-quarterback to lead the list in 2013.
