Las Vegas Raiders have placed wide receiver Tyrell Williams on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.

Williams reportedly received a torn labrum diagnosis but hoped to play through the injury. He will undergo surgery at some point in September and remain sidelined for six months, ending his 2020 season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Williams arrived at training camp expecting to lead a young Raiders receiving corps into the new season. The 28-year-old got off to a hot start for the Silver and Black a year ago before seeing his numbers decline down the stretch due to battling injuries.

The Raiders signed Williams to a four-year, $44.4-million contract in free agency in 2019, stealing him from the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. Williams has no money guaranteed on the final two years of his contract.

The Las Vegas depth chart at wideout includes Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow, and Zay Jones - all 25 years old or younger - as well as veteran Nelson Agholor.
