Report: Raiders trade rookie 3rd-rounder Bowden to Dolphins
The Las Vegas Raiders are trading rookie third-round pick Lynn Bowden Jr., a versatile offensive player who was officially drafted as a running back, to the Miami Dolphins, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Kentucky product will head to Miami with a sixth-round pick in exchange for a fourth-round selection. The fourth-round choice was previously owned by the Raiders, who sent it to the Dolphins in a trade for linebacker Raekwon McMillan one week ago.
The Raiders drafted Bowden 80th overall, hoping he would thrive as a utility weapon in Jon Gruden's offense and as a returner on special teams. He played quarterback and wide receiver in college, but did most of his damage as a runner.
The reports on Bowden out of training camp were underwhelming, which led to questions about the status of his roster spot. NFL teams had until 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to trim their rosters to 53 players.
Bowden was an All-American in college last year. He rushed for 1,468 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior despite playing wide receiver. He had 745 yards and five touchdowns receiving in 2018.
