Linebacker Jamie Collins was ejected from his Detroit Lions debut for making contact with an official during the second quarter.
Collins appeared to be trying to show the official how a Chicago Bears offensive player illegally lowered his helmet.
"Are you fucking kidding me," Collins' agency tweeted after the ejection. "You can't eject a player for this. Totally fucking overzealous interpretation of the rules. He is clearly demonstrating that a player was illegally lowering his helmet to deliver a blow. Completely ridiculous ejection."
Collins signed a three-year, $30-million contract with the Lions in free agency after a one-year return to the New England Patriots.
