San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will miss his second consecutive game Sunday against the New York Giants, the team announced, according to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, and running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman will also sit out with injuries.
Kittle, who ranked third in receiving yards among tight ends a year ago, has been battling an MCL sprain and a bone bruise, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The 49ers initially labeled him a game-time decision but downgraded his status Friday once it became clear he wouldn't be able to play.
An All-Pro for the first time last season, Kittle posted four receptions for 44 yards in the 2020 season opener.
