Dalton hurt on ruthless headshot in Cowboys' loss to Washington
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton left Sunday's loss to the Washington Football Team after a vicious headshot from linebacker Jon Bostic in the third quarter.
Ben DiNucci, a seventh-round rookie who started the season as the third-string quarterback behind Dak Prescott and Dalton, replaced him. Bostic was ejected from the game, while Dalton was later ruled out with a concussion, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
Dalton was making his second start for the Cowboys following Prescott's season-ending ankle injury. He struggled through two-plus quarters Sunday, going 9-for-19 for 75 yards and an interception.
A cart came out for Dalton, but he eventually rose to his feet and was assisted off the field without the vehicle.
DiNucci was shaky upon entering, fumbling two of his first five snaps. The Cowboys recovered both loose balls, but ultimately fell 25-3 and picked up their fifth loss in seven outings.
Dalton signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys in the offseason after he was released by the Cincinnati Bengals, for whom he played nine seasons.
