Ravens promote Dez for potential 1st game since 2017
The Baltimore Ravens promoted Dez Bryant to the active roster Saturday, paving a way for the wide receiver to play his first NFL game in three years, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
The elevation from the practice squad doesn't guarantee Bryant will be in the lineup versus the Indianapolis Colts, as the Ravens could still make him inactive before kickoff.
Bryant spent less than two weeks on Baltimore's practice squad before he was called up. The 32-year-old last appeared in a game on Dec. 31, 2017, as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, the franchise he played eight seasons with.
Bryant is the Cowboys' all-time leader in touchdown receptions and ranks fifth in franchise history in receiving yards behind Jason Witten. He made three Pro Bowls with the Cowboys but seemed to lose some of his explosion in his final season, which contributed to his release the ensuing offseason.
The Oklahoma State product was set to play for the New Orleans Saints in 2018 but tore his Achilles in November, two days after signing a one-year contract with the club. Bryant spent the rest of that year and the 2019 campaign rehabbing.
The Ravens haven't received great production from their wide receivers this year, as Marquise Brown is the only one who's amassed 300 yards or more through the air.
