Patriots' Gilmore out vs. Bills due to knee injury
New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore won't play Sunday versus the Buffalo Bills due to a knee injury, the team announced.
Initially listed as questionable, Gilmore had his status downgraded less than 24 hours before kickoff.
Gilmore was added to the injury report Thursday and was labeled a limited participant in practice. He missed the session Friday because of the injury.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has seen his play tail off somewhat in 2020, though he's still operated as New England's top cornerback. Through six games, Gilmore's broken up two passes and intercepted one.
With the Patriots in danger of falling out of the AFC playoff race, Gilmore's name has popped up in trade rumors. The 30-year-old is signed through 2021, but will likely seek a similar raise to the $5-million boost he received ahead of the 2020 campaign, which compensated him closer to market value.
Gilmore hasn't missed a game since 2017.
