Multiple teams contacted the New England Patriots regarding star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, and the price for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year was a first-round draft pick and a player, ESPN's Dianna Russini reports.

Gilmore remains one of the league's premier defensive players despite seeing his play drop off somewhat this season. He's broken up two passes and intercepted one across six games after leading the NFL with six picks in 2019.

With the Patriots in danger of falling out of the AFC playoff race, Gilmore's name surfaced in trade rumors last week. The 30-year-old is signed through 2021 but could seek a similar raise to the $5-million boost he received ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder.

Gilmore missed his first game since 2017 last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury.
