Patriots add WR depth, acquire Ford from Dolphins
In a rare trade between division rivals, the New England Patriots acquired wide receiver Isaiah Ford from the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins received a 2022 seventh-round pick for the wideout, according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.
Ford joins a depleted Patriots receiving corps that includes N'Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, and Damiere Byrd. Julian Edelman is on injured reserve with a knee injury.
After playing college football at Virginia Tech, Ford was Miami's seventh-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in just nine games over his first three seasons but earned a larger role under Brian Flores this year.
The 24-year-old has caught 18 passes for 184 yards through seven games in 2020, which would rank third on New England behind Edelman and Byrd.
Ford offers good size and agility at 6-foot-2, 201 pounds. The Dolphins will move forward with DeVante Parker, Preston Williams, Jakeem Grant, and Mack Hollins at receiver.
