49ers' Coleman, Samuel out vs. Packers on TNF
The list of San Francisco 49ers unavailable for Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers continues to grow.
Running back Tevin Coleman and receiver Deebo Samuel will not play in Week 9, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday, according to team reporter Keiana Martin.
Coleman is out with a knee injury and Samuel is nursing a hamstring injury.
Coleman has seen sparse game time. He played in the first two weeks of the season and then was out with an injury until he returned versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. He has just 50 rushing yards on 21 carries this season.
Fellow running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. are on injured reserve, so the Niners will have to rely on JaMycal Hasty and Jerick McKinnon out of the backfield.
Samuel missed the first three games of the season, returned for Weeks 4-7, and then was out versus the Seahawks.
Shanahan also announced starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle will be placed on injured reserve. Garoppolo is out with a high ankle sprain, while Kittle suffered a fracture in his foot.
