49ers' Sherman could return in Week 10 vs. Saints
Cornerback Richard Sherman is close to returning from a calf injury after missing all but one game for the San Francisco 49ers this season.
The former All-Pro said he is working hard to potentially return this weekend, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.
The Niners will host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Sherman also indicated the possibility of a "worst-case scenario" that would see him return following San Francisco's Week 11 bye against the Los Angeles Rams.
The 49ers designated Sherman for return on Monday. San Francisco now has a 21-day window where the corner can practice with the team before deciding to activate him or not.
In his absence, cornerback Jason Verrett has stepped up to fill the void.
Over the course of 10 seasons in the league, Sherman has compiled 35 interceptions, 114 passes defended, and five forced fumbles.
