McKinley waived by Bengals after failing physical
Six days after claiming Takk McKinley off waivers, the Cincinnati Bengals waived the 2017 first-round pick after a failed physical, the team announced.
The Atlanta Falcons released McKinley after he had asked the team for a trade and was unhappy when the deadline passed without a deal.
The pass-rusher started his NFL career off fairly well with 13 sacks over his first two campaigns, but he registered only 3.5 in 2019 and one in four games this season. His playing time had also decreased toward the end of his Falcons tenure.
The move leaves Cincinnati somewhat thin at defensive end. The team traded Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks at the deadline, leaving Carl Lawson, Sam Hubbard, and Amani Bledsoe atop the depth chart.
Zac Taylor's squad is currently in a tie for 31st league-wide with just 11 sacks in 2020.
