Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson won't play in Week 14 versus the San Francisco 49ers due to turf toe, according to the Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala.

Gibson's status was thought to be in doubt once his injury diagnosis was revealed. The rookie was injured Monday, early in Washington's victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Gibson out, Washington figures to split backfield duties between J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber.

Gibson rushed for 659 yards and 11 touchdowns while catching 32 passes for 233 yards over his first 12 games.

Washington enters the weekend tied with the New York Giants for the best record in the NFC East at 5-7, but sits second in the division after dropping both head-to-head meetings with New York.
