Jones' status reportedly in doubt after suffering 2nd lower leg injury
New York Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters Wednesday that quarterback Daniel Jones is dealing with a second injury to his lower leg, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
Jones suffered the injury, which Judge said is different than the hamstring ailment that forced him to miss Week 13, during last week's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the 23-year-old sprained his ankle, and that his status for Sunday is in doubt.
Judge added that he's yet to make a decision on the Giants' starting quarterback for their matchup with the Cleveland Browns, per USA Today's Art Stapleton.
"If (Jones) can defend himself properly in the pocket, if he's not at risk beyond any normal game, then we'll give him the opportunity to play," the head coach said, via SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
Colt McCoy started New York's upset victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He would presumably get the nod again if Jones is unable to take the field.
The Giants currently sit second in the NFC East with a 5-8 record.
