Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking to join an exclusive group of NFL legends with his play this season.

Only five players in league history have won at least three NFL MVP awards - Peyton Manning, Jim Brown, Tom Brady, Johnny Unitas, and Brett Favre. Rodgers won the award in 2011 and 2014, and he's in the hunt this season for that elusive third honor.

"There's not many guys who have won three, so that would definitely mean a lot," Rodgers said, according to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire.

Rodgers certainly has a case for this year's award. He leads the NFL in touchdown passes (39), passer rating (119.7), and touchdown percentage (8.7), and his Packers sit atop the NFC playoff standings at 10-3.

"It's nice to be back in the conversation," Rodgers said. "It's usually on the preseason goal list."

The 37-year-old's main competition is likely Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

"I think (MVP winners) should live up to what it stands for as an acronym," he added. "It's that person who is most valuable to their team. I feel like that's why I should be in the competition most years, and this year especially."
