The New York Giants announced Thursday that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has tested positive for COVID-19.

Garrett will work remotely ahead of Week 15, and the Giants won't practice Thursday. The team said there doesn't currently appear to be any high-risk close contacts.

Tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens will serve as New York's offensive play-caller Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Kitchens was Cleveland's head coach last season but was let go after earning a 6-10 record.

Garrett, 54, joined Joe Judge's staff in January following a 13-year tenure with the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants currently rank 31st in both total offense and points per game in 2020.

Kitchens may be without his starting quarterback against his former club, as Daniel Jones' status for Week 15 is in doubt after he suffered a second lower leg injury against the Arizona Cardinals.

New York currently sits second in the NFC East at 5-8, one game behind the Washington Football Team.
