Former Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff will interview with the Detroit Lions for their vacant position, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Falcons fired Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn in October. Dimitroff held the GM post in Atlanta since 2008, constructing six rosters that went to the playoffs including one that went to the Super Bowl.

Detroit also fired GM Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia this season amid another deflating year in the Motor City. The Lions haven't made the playoffs since the 2016 season and haven't won a playoff game since the 1991 campaign.

Dimitroff, a two-time NFL Executive of the Year, worked for the Lions as an area scout from 1994 to 1997.

ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, former Houston Texans GM Rick Smith, and longtime executive Scott Pioli - who worked alongside Dimitroff in Atlanta - are among the other reported candidates on the Lions' radar. Pioli has an interview scheduled, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
