Steelers' Smith-Schuster to stop pregame logo dance
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster said Wednesday he'll stop dancing on opponents' midfield logo before road games, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
The 24-year-old added he's halting the pregame ritual for "the betterment of the team."
“For me, honestly, I was dancing when we were undefeated," Smith-Schuster said. "I was dancing when we lost our three games. I’m not going to change the person who I am."
The Pittsburgh wideout said the dancing became a concern when teammates and coaches started getting questions about it. Smith-Schuster often posts a video of his midfield dance on his TikTok channel and boasts 2.7 million followers on the social media platform.
"I’m big on social media," he said. "Doing something like that, you get the positive and negative."
The Steelers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak after winning their first 11 contests of the season. With the NFL playoffs nearing, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger called a players-only meeting for the offense this week to emphasize the focus needed ahead of a postseason run.
Smith-Schuster has recorded 82 receptions for 670 yards and seven touchdowns with two regular-season games remaining.
The USC alum is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2020 season.
