Kamara placed on COVID-19 list, could miss playoff game
The New Orleans Saints placed star running back Alvin Kamara on their COVID-19 list, the club announced Friday.
Kamara tested positive for COVID-19 twice, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
As a result, the Pro Bowler will miss a Week 17 matchup with the Carolina Panthers, and his status for the playoffs is in question.
Kamara's initial positive test came back on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Due to the mandated 10-day isolation period, the earliest he could return is Sunday, Jan. 10. Kamara's availability for the first round of the playoffs depends on if the Saints need to play on Wild Card Weekend, and whether they're given a Saturday or Sunday playoff date.
The Saints are vying for the conference's No. 1 seed. However, if they lose Sunday or the Green Bay Packers defeat the Chicago Bears, New Orleans would have to play a wild-card game.
Kamara is coming off a monster performance in Week 16. He scored six rushing touchdowns to tie an NFL record. He finishes the regular season with 932 rushing yards, 756 receiving yards, and 21 total scores.
Latavius Murray figures to slide into the starting lineup in Kamara's absence.
