Alex Smith's old leg brace has been given a new life as a piece of art.
Elizabeth Smith, the Washington Football Team quarterback's wife, shared a photo on Instagram showing the brace shaped into a replica of the Lombardi Trophy.
Smith fractured his right leg in November 2018, missing the entire 2019 season as a result. He also suffered a post-operation infection that could have led to an amputation.
Washington secured the NFC East title and its first playoff berth since 2015 on Sunday with a 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Smith completed 22 of 32 passes for 162 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
