Report: Morris in talks to join Meyer's Jaguars as DC
Former Atlanta Falcons interim head coach Raheem Morris has spoken to Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars about becoming their defensive coordinator, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Morris, who went 4-7 after his promotion in Atlanta this season, has reportedly been mulling his options for the 2021 campaign. He's expected to formally interview with Jacksonville on Wednesday after dining with Meyer and Co. on Tuesday night, according to NFL reporter Josina Anderson.
The Jaguars are looking to fill out Meyer's staff after luring him out of retirement. Meyer, who enjoyed a storied career in the college ranks, was first rumored to be eyeing Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach Joe Cullen for the coordinator role.
Morris spent the last six seasons with the Falcons. He began as the defensive backs coach and the assistant head coach to Dan Quinn, and the 44-year-old became the defensive coordinator in 2020 before taking over after Quinn was dismissed when the Falcons were 0-5.
Morris is known primarily for his three-year stint as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011.
