Report: Teams calling Raiders about Mariota
Derek Carr isn't the only Las Vegas Raiders quarterback receiving trade interest.
Teams have been calling the Raiders to inquire about backup Marcus Mariota, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Mariota only appeared in one game for the AFC West club in 2020 after Carr was hurt early in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The former Tennessee Titans signal-caller impressed during the 30-27 loss, completing 17 of 28 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown against one interception, adding 88 yards and another score on the ground.
"That performance that he gave at the end of the year really caught a lot of teams' eyes, that maybe he could be the next Ryan Tannehill," Rapoport said.
Tannehill - who had an inconsistent start to his career with the Miami Dolphins - has blossomed into a Pro Bowl-level starter in Tennessee after taking over from Mariota.
The No. 2 overall pick in 2015, Mariota struggled to establish himself as the Titans' franchise quarterback during five seasons in Tennessee.
Mariota is owed a base salary of $10.625 million in 2021, the final year of his contract, per Spotrac. Las Vegas would be off the hook for all of Mariota's $10.75-million cap hit if it traded the backup.
The Raiders have reportedly received multiple trade calls for Carr. They'd apparently consider pursuing Deshaun Watson if they could find a deal for their current starter.
