Brady will undergo minor surgery to 'clean up' knee
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady will undergo minor surgery to "clean up" his knee, head coach Bruce Arians announced Thursday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
The 43-year-old - who was seen wearing a brace on his left knee during the Bucs' Super Bowl boat parade Wednesday - played through discomfort for most of the season, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The signal-caller didn't miss a game or a practice all year.
Brady is coming off his seventh Super Bowl win, which culminated the veteran's first season in Tampa Bay after joining the Bucs as a free agent from the New England Patriots.
The future Hall of Famer is signed for one more season with the Buccaneers, and the passer suggested prior to the win over the Kansas City Chiefs that he's open to playing beyond his long-stated goal of age 45.
Arians also said he "wouldn't be surprised" if Brady signs an extension with the NFC South club beyond 2021.
Brady threw the second-most regular-season touchdown passes of his career in 2020, tossing 40 before racking up another 10 during Tampa Bay's four-game title run.
