Marcus Maye has accepted his franchise tag with the New York Jets, the safety's agent told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Maye's tender locks him in on a $10.61-million salary for the 2021 season.
The two sides have until July 15 to work out a multi-year deal. If an agreement isn't reached, Maye will only be allowed to play under the fully guaranteed one-year tag.
New York tagged Maye after he enjoyed a successful four-year stint with the club. The 28-year-old played every defensive snap in 2020 while recording 88 tackles, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two sacks.
The 2017 second-round pick will join newly signed Lamarcus Joyner in the back end of head coach Robert Saleh's defense.
