Eagles snag Heisman Trophy winner Smith after trading up with Cowboys
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired the 10th overall pick from the Dallas Cowboys and used it to take wide receiver DeVonta Smith out of Alabama.
Philadelphia sent the 12th pick and the 84th pick - a third-round selection - back to the Cowboys.
Smith will join an Eagles receiving corps that has gradually eroded since the franchise's Super Bowl LII victory. Philly drafted Jalen Reagor in the opening round a year ago to make the team's offense more explosive, but the TCU product only registered 396 yards and one touchdown across 11 appearances.
The 22-year-old put up 1,856 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns in his final season with the Crimson Tide and became the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard in 1991. Smith was the third wideout to come off the draft board, following LSU's Ja'Marr Chase and former Alabama teammate Jaylen Waddle.
