Sherman, Seahawks have been in contact about possible reunion

The 2021 NFL Draft has concluded and offseason business can shift back to veteran unsigned free agents, such as Richard Sherman.

The 33-year-old has been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints after playing the past three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. But another destination may be possible: the Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed he's spoken with the Legion of Boom's former leader.

"I've talked to Sherm quite a few times here over the offseason," Carroll said Saturday, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. "So we have stayed in contact and he's out there. I know he's thinking about it. He's looking for an opportunity. I saw where he said there's three or four teams he's considering or whatever. So we'll see what happens."

Sherman played for Seattle from 2011 to 2017, winning one Super Bowl and making three All-Pro teams while being selected to four Pro Bowls. He left as a free agent in 2018 and signed with the rival 49ers, but the Hawks remain on good terms with the cornerback.

"It wasn't as bad as everybody thought it was when he left," general manager John Schneider said. "I was literally talking to him probably 10 minutes before he went in and agreed with the 49ers and talking in a very positive manner. It's been good."

Schneider added that Sherman is "always going to be a Seahawk."
