Harbaugh praises Lamar after COVID-19 return: 'He had a lot of symptoms'
Lamar Jackson practiced for the first time Saturday since testing positive for COVID-19, and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was pleased with how his quarterback performed after dealing with varied symptoms.
"I thought he looked really good. I would say he looked even better than I expected him to coming off 10 days away, hadn't started yet," said Harbaugh. "COVID is tough and he had symptoms. He had a lot of symptoms.
"I think it speaks to how well he took care of himself during that time. He came out and practiced well. Good first step."
The Ravens activated Jackson from the COVID-19 list on Friday, freeing him to return to training camp.
It was the second time Jackson has tested positive for COVID-19. He missed one game last season as a result.
The 24-year-old is coming off another strong season. He became the only quarterback in NFL history to register a second 1,000-plus-yard rushing campaign after first achieving the feat during his MVP year in 2019.
Jackson also threw for 2,757 yards and 26 touchdowns against nine interceptions while winning 11 of his 15 starts in 2020.
Baltimore begins its preseason against the New Orleans Saints at home on Saturday.
