Saints' Robinson retiring after 11 seasons
New Orleans Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson informed the team he's retiring, his agent told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Robinson spent eight of his 11 NFL seasons with the Saints, splitting the other three years between the then-San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Philadelphia Eagles.
"He and I spoke for about a half an hour," Saints head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday. "He's had a great career, he's been smart with his money, and it was something that deep down inside he felt."
The Saints deployed the Florida State product mostly in the slot in 2020 but were looking at him as a perimeter option at training camp this year. He leaves behind a fairly thin secondary in New Orleans, which needs a new starter to pair with Marshon Lattimore.
Robinson finishes his career with 16 interceptions. He won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles and notched a pick-6 in the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings that postseason.
New Orleans drafted Robinson 32nd overall in 2010.
