Lawrence: I was a 'little bit nervous' to start preseason debut
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence admitted to some jitters early on in his NFL preseason debut Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
"The first play you're a little bit, especially first game here in the NFL, you're a little bit nervous; but after that, you're just playing ball," Lawrence said after Jacksonville's 23-13 loss, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "Definitely felt that (comfort) setting in."
The 2021 first overall pick fumbled the ball after being sacked on his first play Sunday. However, he finished 6-for-9 passing for 71 yards during two first-half possessions.
"I feel like the first time out there, I felt comfortable, felt poised," Lawrence said. "Obviously, the first play's not kind of what you want for the first play, but after that, I thought we did a good job."
Lawrence also went 3-for-4 on throws in tight windows, which equaled the best completion percentage in tight windows by a Jaguars quarterback in 2020.
