Report: Texans' Lawson, Lonnie Johnson eyed as trade candidates
Houston Texans pass-rusher Shaq Lawson and safety Lonnie Johnson are being "heavily discussed" as potential trade candidates in league circles, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Lawson and Johnson are both expected to be backups for Houston. The defensive end is projected to play behind Whitney Mercilus and Jordan Jenkins, while the third-year safety is behind Eric Murray and Justin Reid.
The Texans traded linebacker Benardrick McKinney and a seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Lawson and a sixth-round pick in March. The veteran started his career with the Buffalo Bills, and he's racked up 20.5 sacks over five seasons.
Meanwhile, Houston made Johnson its second-round pick in 2019. He's appeared in 30 games over the last two seasons, starting 12.
