Colts place Wentz, Kelly, Pascal on COVID-19 list
The Indianapolis Colts put quarterback Carson Wentz, center Ryan Kelly, and wide receiver Zach Pascal on the COVID-19 list, the team announced Monday.
Wentz is recovering from foot surgery and is in a race to be ready for the start of the season.
The signal-caller was set to be a full participant in team practice this week for the first time since July 29, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
Wentz, Kelly, and Pascal were all deemed close contacts of a staffer who tested positive, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. All three could reportedly return in five days if they continue to test negative and remain asymptomatic.
If Wentz is unable to play in Week 1 and beyond, sophomore Jacob Eason is set to start for Indianapolis.
The Colts will be without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton for multiple games due to a neck injury he sustained in practice last week.
However, All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson - who, like Wentz, is recovering from foot surgery - was removed from the COVID-19 list Monday and should be in line to return to practice.
