Titans cut rookie Fitzpatrick after trading up for him in 4th round
The Tennessee Titans waived rookie wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick in Tuesday's final round of roster cuts after trading up in the 2021 NFL Draft to select him in the fourth round.
Fitzpatrick finished the preseason with three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown over two appearances. He had 43 receptions for 833 yards and three touchdowns in his final year at Louisville.
The Titans sent fourth-, fifth-, and seventh-round picks (126th, 166th, and 232nd overall) to the Carolina Panthers to climb 17 spots for Fitzpatrick at No. 109 overall. They could look to bring him back with their practice squad if he clears waivers.
The Titans denied Fitzpatrick a roster spot one year after trading 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson to the Miami Dolphins before he debuted. Wilson fell out of favor after a host of off-field issues, and the Dolphins cut him shortly after acquiring him in a swap of future seventh-round selections.
Shortly after drafting Fitzpatrick, the Titans used another fourth-round selection on Rashad Weaver, who they later discovered was charged with simple assault one day earlier.
