Buccaneers' Pierre-Paul to miss game vs. Rams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul will miss Sunday's game with the Los Angeles Rams due to hand and shoulder injuries, head coach Bruce Arians announced Friday, according to Pewter Report.
Pierre-Paul received a second opinion on his shoulder issue and rest was recommended, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
First-rounder Joe Tryon-Shoyinka will step up to replace the veteran alongside Shaq Barrett for the heavyweight NFC clash.
Bucs defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is confident the rookie will help keep the defense competitive against the reinvigorated Matthew Stafford-led Rams offense.
"Honestly, we shouldn't lose anything," Suh said, per Carmen Vitali of Tampa Bay's official site. "We expect Joe to step up and it's something that we've talked about all the time - that at any point in the season we're going to have a young guy and/or someone who is technically a backup to step up and be a starter and play in a role that really is expected for them to have no drop-offs."
Pierre-Paul recorded nine tackles and zero sacks through two weeks. Meanwhile, Tryon-Shoyinka has four tackles while playing about a quarter of the team's defensive snaps.
