Carroll: Seahawks' locker room 'real serious' amid 2-game skid
The mood among Seattle Seahawks players is "real serious" following a pair of shocking losses, head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday.
"We're trying to tune everything in every time, forever, but I think there's a little bit of a different feel about it," Carroll told reporters. "They want to prove it. They want to prove that we're on the right track and we're going to go win a bunch of games."
The Seahawks have struggled defensively in the early going, ranking last in the NFL in yards allowed through three weeks. They blew a 15-point lead to the Tennessee Titans before falling in overtime in Week 2, and allowed Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins to have one of the most efficient performances of his career in Week 3.
After losing to the Vikings, Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers expressed frustration with how he's been used. He also said other defenders have been confused about how they're supposed to guard certain routes.
All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner spoke to everyone on the defense after the Vikings game, and said "we're all on the same page."
Carroll acknowledged he talked to cornerback Richard Sherman about a reunion to bolster his secondary before the season, but a deal never materialized. Sherman, who previously spent seven seasons in Seattle, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.
The Seahawks have made the playoffs nine times in 11 seasons under Carroll, who took over as head coach in 2010.
Seattle will meet the 2-1 San Francisco 49ers in Week 4.
