Fields stayed home to watch film while parents celebrated his QB1 nod
Justin Fields was too busy studying to celebrate earning the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback job.
Fields told reporters Wednesday that his parents wanted to take him out after the Bears named him their starter for the remainder of the season, but he chose to stay home.
"My parents were actually at my house last night. I told them and they wanted to go out to celebrate and I'm cool, as I'm trying to win this weekend," Fields said. "I mean, of course there's some reason to celebrate, but I'm not just gonna be complacent with where I'm at. I'm gonna continue to grow, continue to get better, and just try to work hard each and every day to get wins on Sundays."
While Fields stayed home, his parents went out to celebrate the news without him.
"I was just home with my dog Uno watching film last night," Fields said. "That's all I was doing."
Fields started the last two games for Chicago in place of veteran Andy Dalton, who's been sidelined with a knee injury. He'll face the Las Vegas Raiders next on Sunday.
