Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson suffered a finger injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday's 26-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Wilson hurt his middle finger in a clash of hands with Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. He returned to the field for one drive before being replaced by Geno Smith, who finished the game.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Wilson is dealing with "a badly sprained finger," according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Carroll added that the quarterback was removed because he couldn't properly hold the football.

When asked how long Wilson might be out, Carroll said he "wouldn't put any timeline on it right now."

Wilson, who has never missed a start to this point in his career, will have 10 days to recover before Seattle's next game, a Sunday night matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.

Smith entered with the Seahawks trailing 16-7 and led a 10-play, 98-yard drive, culminating in a 27-yard touchdown to DK Metcalf to cut the deficit.

However, the Rams scored on their next possession to extend their lead to 23-14. Smith managed to lead Seattle to a field goal but threw an interception with just over two minutes remaining to all but seal the win for Los Angeles.

Wilson went 11-for-16 passing for 151 yards and one touchdown against one interception before exiting.
