Report: Murray fine after twisting ankle on final play of TNF loss
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray "should be fine moving forward" after twisting his ankle on the final play of Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Murray limped off the field after throwing an end-zone interception that sealed the 24-21 defeat. He wore a walking boot as a precautionary measure when he left the stadium, added Pelissero.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Friday that Murray was feeling sore, but he's hopeful the extra time off will help the quarterback get healthier before the next game, according to ESPN's Josh Weinstein.
The MVP candidate will have an additional three days to recover before attempting to bounce back from Arizona's first loss this season in a matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.
Murray told reporters postgame that he wasn't seriously hurt.
"Yeah, I'm good. Guy rolled up on me, but other than that it's just unfortunate to lose like that," Murray said, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith.
The 24-year-old is in the midst of his best pro season. He has completed 72.7% of his passes for 2,276 yards and 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions while adding 147 yards and three scores on the ground.
