The Houston Texans are trading pass-rusher Charles Omenihu to the San Francisco 49ers, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Houston received a 2023 sixth-round pick in return, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Omenihu, a 2019 fifth-round pick, flashed intriguing potential over his first two seasons in Houston, racking up seven sacks and 21 quarterback hits.

However, he's struggled to make a similar impact for the lowly Texans this campaign, registering no sacks and just three quarterbacks hits.

Omenihu will likely act as a depth option for the 49ers behind star defensive end Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead.

Houston is 1-7 and appears to be selling off some of its valuable assets to help kickstart its rebuild.

The AFC South club traded running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints last week for a reported 2024 seventh-round pick.
