Report: Zach Wilson to start vs. Texans
The New York Jets will start quarterback Zach Wilson on Sunday against the Houston Texans, a source told Connor Hughes of The Athletic.
Wilson was fully cleared to return to practice Monday after missing four games with a PCL injury.
The club placed signal-callers Mike White and Joe Flacco on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday as close contacts. They've been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Their status had no impact on Wilson being named the Jets' Week 12 starter, Hughes reports.
Josh Johnson is expected to be promoted from the practice roster to be Wilson's backup.
Wilson (1-5) has started six contests in his debut campaign for the Jets. The 2021 second overall pick has thrown for 1,168 yards, four touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
The BYU alum will face a Houston pass defense that is surrendering 255 yards per game.
